Bruce has all of October strangely free? ACL?

San Diego Sport News Reddit - Thu, 05/02/2024 - 19:01

Not saying it’s gonna happen but Bruce pretty consistently plays a couple times a week all through this year and then just comes to a complete stop right before October and takes the month off and then in November. He is already going to be playing at the Sea. Here. Festival but then the rest is pretty free. Not saying it’s gonna happen, but he could very be available at ACL this year in Austin. Probably not but it’s possible and he’d have my ticket in a second. Any thoughts on this? Just wondering.

Where are the weirdos?

San Diego Sport News Reddit - Thu, 05/02/2024 - 18:55

I'm in SD for work, and I'm finding San Diego pretty vanilla so far. Where is the arts district, the gay bars, the quirky folks? The fiber stores and used book stores? Open mic nights and poetry events?

Planning honeymoon trip mid August, fiancee hasn't seen any US National Parks.

San Diego Sport News Reddit - Thu, 05/02/2024 - 18:45

My fiancee isn't originally from the US and has only seen our major cities. She really wants to see the giant sequoias, do some day hikes, and some scenic drives. What do we need to know about weather and road conditions in August? We're driving up from San Diego and have about a week of PTO to burn. Do we need to get permits/parking/day passes or anything in advanced?

Shame on the District Aterny of san diego + I denounce mat neuman

San Diego Sport News Reddit - Thu, 05/02/2024 - 18:36

Why did they not talk about joey p beating up gregg on live stream and announce charges aganst him for that? Sure joey p didnt shoot matt newman but he did a salt and battery on Gregg in front of all his friendly fellow buffs by throwing him into a wall and surely he should be charged for that. San diego district atoerny droped the ball with this one and if i were Greg i would soo them and Joey "PEE" Patreon for damiges

And to add insult to injurie it looks like Mat Neuman was watching too much Hackers (1995, 1 hour 50 min) and thought he was a big cool guy. Matt newman shame on you sometimes movies should stay in their own realm and their activities should not be copied in real life. I was wrong about him and i apologize for ever in sinuating that he was a movies fan because real movies fans do not copy the stars and scripts i think that he deserved to get shot and die for not caring about movies after all. He was a video games fan and he died as such. Dont snuff the buf

Spring sports update

San Diego Sport News Reddit - Thu, 05/02/2024 - 18:20

- No. 6 USC women's golf fresh off a second place-finish at the final Pac-12 tournament, continues the postseason with its selection as the No. 1 seed in the East Lansing Regional (May 6-8) at the Forest Akers Golf Course in East Lansing, Mich.

After receiving NCAA Championship Runner-up status in 2023, the Women of Troy hope to make another run towards the final prize at the NCAA Championships final, which is set for the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, Calif. and hosted by the University of Texas, May 17-22.

The Trojans have advanced to the NCAA Championship final site every year since 1998.

Joining the Trojans in East Lansing is Northwestern (Big Ten), Florida (SEC), Pepperdine (WCC), Michigan State (Big Ten), Kentucky (SEC), Denver (Summit League), Oklahoma State (Big XII), Indiana (Big Ten), Augusta (Southland), Illinois State (Missouri Valley) and Oakland (Horizon).

- No. 11 seed USC women's tennis is set to open up its 2024 NCAA campaign from home this weekend, as the Trojans host Cal Poly in the first round of action on Friday, May 3 at 2 p.m. Grand Canyon and No. 23 San Diego will face off on Friday morning at 11 a.m. Winning teams will square off in the NCAA Second Round at 2 p.m. on Saturday (May 4) to fight for a ticket to the NCAA Super Regional at sites to be determined.

The eight teams that advance out of that round will head to Stillwater, Oklahoma for the quarterfinals through national championship. Matches will be played at the Greenwood Tennis Center May 17-19, with the singles and doubles finals to take place thereafter from May 20-25.

-M/W Track & Field. After both the Men and Women beat ucla, they have one more meet before the Pac12 Championships in Colorado starting a week from tomorrow. Men are currently ranked 7th, the Women are 18th. Senior Johnnie Blockburger is having a phenomenal year and the Men's 4x100 team has the 5th fastest time in the country this season.

- The three-time defending NCAA champion USC beach volleyball team (33-5) earned the top seed among 17 teams competing in the 2024 NCAA Championship and will face either Atlantic Sun champion North Florida (24-11) or Ohio Valley champion Chattanooga (19-9) in the round of 16. The Women of Troy are scheduled to play in the round of 16 this coming Friday, May 3rd, at 11 a.m. CT (9 a.m. PT). All opening- and first-round matches are scheduled to be shown live on ESPNU. Quarterfinals and semifinals (May 4) will be carried live by ESPN2. The championship dual is scheduled for 10 a.m. CT on Sunday (May 5) and will also be shown live on ESPN2. (I think the rules changed this year and it is now single-elimination as opposed to having a loser bracket)

I won't bother with baseball, lol.

Goffin Cockatoo Leg Band (Need help defining)

San Diego Sport News Reddit - Thu, 05/02/2024 - 18:11

My boyfriend adopted his Goffin Cockatoo, Bella, from a bird store called Bird Smart, San Diego, CA (now closed) in 2015.

She has a closed leg band that says "TBAC FL 2192". We've done extensive digging on this and can't seem to find anything associated. She was adopted prior by someone else and was later returned to the store. When adopted by my BF, they told him she was 8 years old and born in the store (although we have doubts).

A employee who worked in the nursery said they fed Bella by hand when she was a chick, hence why we are confused on the FL in her leg band (sounding like it may be Florida, but doesn't make sense since adopted in CA and allegedly born there.)

Can someone help us define her leg band ID and hopefully help us figure out where she was born and age?

Thanks so much!!

~ Squanch

CYF: 1 character of Drake Bell or Josh Peck into the D&J-verse

San Diego Sport News Reddit - Thu, 05/02/2024 - 18:07

Who are you leaving in San Diego? And how do you fit them into the plot to replace either Drake Parker or Josh Nichols? How does this change the show?

Can be any era or character, though I've made the options mostly teen or adult parts from after they booked D&J for comfort reasons. Also did not include animated roles, otherwise we'd be here all day.

...

For me, Luke Shapiro in the place of Josh. The show probably wouldn't be a sitcom, and certainly wouldn't be a kidcom anymore, but it could be something different as a slice-of-life drama.

https://preview.redd.it/ersz9mwhp3yc1.jpg?width=700&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2431f56ceff6079ef423495136843fdd4491cab4

Luke doesn't seem like he plausibly could be Walter's son, plus he already has canon (awful) parents, so we have to either nix Walter, or better have him as a childless partner to Audrey.

And Luke is too old (18+) to be a foster kid anyway, so perhaps he ends up staying with the family for some other reason--maybe he's Walter's depressed College-grad nephew from NYC, who Grammy sends to detox? Or perhaps he's a new intern (radio? Hip hop?) at the broadcast station Walter works at and needs a place stay temporarily? Or a young construction guy working on the house? Not knowing what Luke ended up doing in or after College gives a blank canvas.

Either way, Luke would be climbing the walls trying to adapt to behaving himself inside a nice stable well-off law-abiding suburban family home. He & Drake would definitely bond fast and tight over being sensitive, musically-inclined delinquent loners, though their tastes and backgrounds are so different. Drake wouldn't seem such a rebel next to Shapiro, and Luke would introduce him to a grittier way of life, e.g. teach him to curse, tag walls, brood and blaze up.

The underlying storyline of the show could be Luke leading Drake down a darker path but regretting it once he sees the effect it has, and through this experience learning to be protective instead of (self)-destructive.

And I feel like Megan would take to Luke immediately, in a way she didn't right away to Josh. Audrey might struggle to get through to him, though, considering how little Luke respects his own mother. There's probably dramedy value in Luke interacting with Helen, Mindy, and Craig & Eric, as well, but with Josh Nichols gone idk how to bring them into his & Drake's world.
